The title of this book, The Fluker Family: God is Cruising Us to Regality, was chosen because of her Christian upbringing and belief in God and because of these words spoken to her shortly after moving from the rural town of Coffeeville, Alabama, to the large city, St. Louis, Missouri: "Edwina, you must have come from a regal family." At the time, I did not know what she meant by saying that I must have come from a royal status. However, after sharing this story with my publicist, she encouraged me to frame my book title around these experiences.
The author's expressions on everyday rural southern living will bring a smile or laughter. She interjects front-porch satire on topics of churchgoing, childhood experiences, food, and much more. As a bonus to the readers, she has included folksy drawings to accompany each written expression.

My personal experiences shared in this book will help you see that your life goals are attainable whatever they may be, and, that you are worth taking a chance on! Despite what the world has shown you, being Black is an honor. Hold your head AND your heritage high! You are more than enough, and that's a truth you can bet on."

This book is designed to encourage readers. When the world hears the word 'love', immediately, it is taken to mean intimacy, sex, seduction, a hunger for, or as a desire for. Christians should see love through the Word and knowledge of God. We can love in a capacity that is at a greater level in the world. This book explores the love journey from a physical heartbreak to the spirit of eternal love with God.
The Gentleman Chronicles, a poetry anthology, centers on the concept that hurtful life experiences or obstacles do not eliminate hope for the hurt and hopeless. This book was written to encourage youth, teenagers, and young adults. Through the poems in this book, the author vividly chronicles his stories of Pain, Hope, and Love through his transition from a teenager to young adulthood. He holds nothing back, utilizing various literary techniques, pouring out the emotional state of his mind during difficult and challenging times. From these warped experiences, he creatively weaves a light of hope and love in his writing that pulled himself into the character of becoming The Gentleman.

"Ms. Rankins conveys the heartbreak and joy of giving birth as a single mom in the context of her own loving family. We embrace the African American tradition of loving all children born into this world. The absent father could have been portrayed as evil instead of human, thoughtless and cold. Instead of maudlin or tragic our herioine rises to motherhood with grace and style, creating a loving home for her son and a sweet story for us.
